Background & Experience
Working in the field of Hydrogen Deuterium Exchange Mass Spectrometry (HDX-MS) since 2002.
Under this umbrella, HDX-MS analysis was performed for the majority of Top 10 pharmaceutical and bio-pharmaceutical companies, and also working closely on collaborations with leading national and international academics & universities. Work here included over 200 unique protein and biomolecule entities, and research into the delicate subtleties required to perform HDX experiments.
We have experience in developing methods for sample handling automation, fluidics, inline proteolysis, MS analysis and component production enabling studies for
Our understanding of the complexities of HDX-MS work in the production environment led us to develop and implement
The development process involved in all stages of HDX-MS was achieved, not with any commercially available platform, but rather with the combination of standard off the shelf laboratory equipment. It is this work, all in a production environment, that affords us unrivaled experience in the day to day operation and overall development of HDX-MS protocols, systems and techniques.
In collaboration with our colleagues, we have published and directly contributed to over twenty peer reviewed publications in the field of HDX-MS. He was responsible for the training of all lab operators in the use of HDX-MS procedures and systems, establishing fundamental troubleshooting procedures and day to day maintenance of all LC, automation and MS systems.

We have experience in developing methods for sample handling automation, fluidics, inline proteolysis, MS analysis and component production enabling studies for
- Protein-Ligand Interaction
- Protein-Protein Interaction
- Epitope Mapping
- Lot to lot comparability
Our understanding of the complexities of HDX-MS work in the production environment led us to develop and implement
- Stand alone and retrofit temperature control devices for use with sample handling, storage, LC preparation and MS systems
- High efficiency LC separation, proteolytic and trapping columns for use at sub ambient temperatures
- Retrofit ESI Source components to maximize sample stability and reduce back exchange
- Automated sample handling components for cryogenic sample storage and controlled thawing
- Procedures and necessary components for automated HDX-MS experiments in the sub second range
