More than just 'training'.
If you want to get started in the field of HDX, or if you have equipment in house that is not giving you the sort of data you were hoping for, then we can help. The learning curve for HDX operators is steep; there are many mistakes to be made, difficulties to overcome and a myriad of tips and tricks that can be employed to streamline the HDX process.
This course is intended to introduce the beginner, assist the general user and enhance or streamline the work of the practitioner. We focus on the front end HDX process; it is our experience that if you can get this right, that which follows will be much easier to understand.
HDX can be a very expensive and time consuming process to master, so why not let us help you get it right? Whether you need help from the start, need assistance in method development or could benefit from someone experienced in the intricacies of front end HDX operations, we can help.
The Course.
The training we offer is based upon knowledge and experience gained from operating multiple HDX systems in a fee for service production environment for more than a decade. Course materials are continuously reviewed and tailored to the needs of the customer.
Our training is intended to be delivered on site, typically over a period of two or three days. Again, this is dependent upon your needs, we will work with you to design something that meets your requirements.
We are pleased to offer a front end training course designed to support the LEAP HDX platform, which is split over three days and includes phone support.
This course introduces challenges experienced when combining HDX and automation, including;
How can this training help you?
We cover the most common problems encountered in HDX work;
What we aim to do is shine a light on what you may know, what you will see and hopefully, give insight enough to mitigate the rest, aiming to;
How much does it all cost?
Our pricing is dependent upon your need; whether you need a little help in the right direction, you need us to get your system working, you have staff to train or you want technical insight or development.
Perhaps the better question is how much time can we save you.

This course introduces challenges experienced when combining HDX and automation, including;
- Sample handling
- Digestion process
- Trapping and desalting
- Elution flow and LC separation
- MS Source configuration
- Basics of data interpretation
How can this training help you?
We cover the most common problems encountered in HDX work;
- System Contamination – background noise, poor data quality
- Sample Handling Issues - loss of experimental control, inconsistent mixing
- Digestion Efficiency – too few peptides, incomplete coverage
- Temperature Control – sample breaks down, poor reproducibility
- Inconsistency of results – exchange rates differ, deuterium uptake not consistent between runs
- LC separation problems – pressure issues, columns not lasting, loss of separation
- Rapid back exchange – poor deuterium retention
What we aim to do is shine a light on what you may know, what you will see and hopefully, give insight enough to mitigate the rest, aiming to;
- Reduce sample noise, improve data quality
- Project specific exchange and quench conditions
- Column care, washes, timing, pressure and reagents
- Care for your sample, get repeatable exchange times
- Stabilizing conditions for flow, mixing, separation
- Reduce time needed for data interpretation
- Fewer repeat samples, better data
